Tavel |

Tavel is the only appellation in Rhone to produce only Rose. Rosés from Tavel are historically well known for powerful aromas of red fruit and almonds. Full and round on the palate with spices and a medium to long finish. This is the king of Rosé. Reputed to have been favorites of Louis XIV and the Popes of Avignon. Tavel Rosé is the only AOC appellation to specialize in making Rosé. The appellation is situated across from another famous appellation, Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Tavel shares its terroir with their famous neighbor, in addition to having limestone and slate soils. As a good contrast to Provence, Tavel offers deeper color, fuller body and good compliment to complex foods. This is a great wine at this price coming from one of Rhone Valley's top Crus.
